8th Grade Week of 10/31/11

Happy Halloween Week!

We will continue our study of Edgar Allan Poe.  We will also finish all of our Expository Organizers.  Be ready to complete a rough draft by the end of the week!  You will also begin a new unit of SAT Vocbaulary words!

7th Grade ACLA Week of 10/31/11

Happy Halloween Week!

We will wrap up our study of Character with our body biographies this week.  We will also present all of our independent study projects this week! You will receive guidlines for our Expository Writing and new SAT Vocabulary words as well!  Important Due Dates will be posted later this week :)

8th Grade LA Week of 10/24/11

We will work on our Thesis Statements and Expository Organizers this week!  This will help us get ready for our timed Expository Writing this week!  We will also take a few days to introduce the author Edgar Allan Poe; we will read his short story "The Tale-Tell Heart" this week and into Monday the 31st!

7th Grade ACLA Week of 10/24/11

We are finishing up our unit on The Outsidersthis week!  We will take this novel into our Expository Writing with our critque of the movie next week.  All journals and organizers will be due by the end of the week.  Our body biographies will be completed in class next week.  Have a great conference week!

8th Grade LA Week of 10/10/11

 
 
I really won't be seeing you too much this week :(  We will continue our work on Expository Writing.  We will also have our Timed Writing #2 due this week.  If we stay on task through the week, we will enjoy a scary story on Friday!

7th Grade ACLA Week of 10/10/11

 
I won't see 2nd and 6th Periods much this week :(  We will be reading The Outsiders all week.  We will also take some time to go to the Book Fair!

Remember...keep bringing in your Outsiders Journals and Cognitive Reading Organizers :)

8th Grade Week of 10/3/11

We will complete another Timed Writing this week to help us get ready for our Expository Unit and the Georgia Writing Assessment in January!  We will also begin our study of sentence structure; this will help us analyze author's sentence variety and to begin varying our own sentence structure in our writing.

Our semester assessment will be next week!  You will receive a study guide this week :)

ACLA Week of 10/3/11

Due to our crazy testing schedule, I have decided to push back our Independent Study until 10/28!  Please note that everyone will NOT be able to present this day.  We will present the following week as well :)

This week we will be working through our reading and analysis of The Outsiders.  You will have multiple journal entries and organizers to turn in before we complete the novel study!
