Week of October 22nd

8th Grade Language Arts:
This week we will continue to follow the writing process to complete our Narrative Short Stories.

Handwritten Finals Due: 10/25
Typed Finals Due: 10/29

Late papers will have a ten point deduction per day late (NOT per CLASS)!

Please study for our next DGP Quiz! (Wednesday 10/24)

We are busy writers...begin to think about what persuasion means to you!


7th Grade Language Arts:

This week we will revise and edit our rough drafts.  Please pay close attention to the following due dates:

Remember, I am dropping the lowest DGP Quiz grade for this 9 weeks!

We will begin our journey through Literature after this week!  Be prepared to be a Critic!!!

7th Grade Social Studies:

Unit III test on Tuesday the 23rd!!!  Study HARD!

We will begin our next unit after the test on Tuesday.  Economics affects us all...especially when we are connected globally!  Begin to think about the importance of resources...who decides what to export/import?  Who is in control of pricing? 

Week of October 15th

8th Grade Language Arts:

We will continue to compose our narrative short stories.  Rought Drafts due on the 22nd!

Please study for the DGP Quiz on Wednesday the 17th!!!

7th Grade Language Arts:

We will continue to work on our Narratives!  Rough Drafts should be completed by the 23rd!

Please study for the DGP Quiz on the 17th!  We will have these quizzes often!

7th Grade Social Studies:

We will contiune our Geographical Investigation in Southwest Asia!  Our Unit III test and Notebook III will be on/due on the 23rd!  We will review and prepare for this on the 19th!

October 22nd: Report Card Distribution (please feel free to e-mail me with any questions)

October 25th: 5th and 7th Final Narratives due with all checklists completed

October 26th: 3rd and 6th Final Narratives due with all checklists completed

8th Grade Language Arts

Week of October 8th:

This week we have continued our journey through Grammar using our DGP warm ups!  Daily Grammar Practice will help us understand the pieces of sentence structure; this practice will help us become better authors!  We have also spent a great deal of time preparing our characters, setting, and plot for our Narrative Writing Unit!  Through our Narrative Reading Unit we have seen great examples of these elements from exceptional authors! 

FYI...Our Movie Boards featuring the plot of "The Tale-Tell Heart" will be up next week!  If you are in the building, please come by and see our hard work!  We have some aspiring artists in 8th Grade :)

Next Week...

DGP Three

Narrative Writing Unit:  We will complete our pre-writing activities and begin writing our rough drafts!  This is a very important composition, and we will take our time to produce creative short stories.

DGP Quiz on Wednesday the 17th!!!

7th Grade Social Studies

Week of October 8th:

We are currently reviewing geographical skills which should be mastered this year.  We have had a great time practicing our skills regarding latitude and longitude.  We also began our Nation Investigation within our DBI (Daniell Bureau of Investigation) collaborative teams.

Our current Geography Unit of Southwest Asia will go by very quickly, so we all need to stay on top of things!
Next Week...

We will complete our Geographical Investigation. We will try to answer our essential question: How does where you live affect how you live?

Test on Friday the 19th!!!

7th Grade Language Arts

Week of October 8th

We have been working very hard on our narratives.  Each student has spent a great deal of time developing their characters, plot, and setting for their short story.  I can't wait to see the final products!
Next week...

DGP Week Three: We will continue our journey through Grammar!

Narrative Writing Unit: We should have our Rough Drafts finished by the end of the week.

DGP Quiz on Wednesday the 17th!!!  Please review your DGP packets and DGP Two!  The quiz will be very similar to Week Two!
