Week #3 Language Arts

This week we will focus on plural nouns both in spelling and writing. The students have 4 spelling tasks to complete by this coming Friday----1.Alphabetize the list words 2. sort the words as instructed on the front of the spelling list 3. and 4.complete a worksheet. Friday is the Spelling Test on Plural Nouns.

In reading we are analyzing "The School Play" by Gary Soto for the parts of a narrative, from which we will be writing our own personal narratives.

Please make sure that the student has a separate binder for Language Arts with subject dividers. All homework is hole-punched and placed in the binder.

Language Arts---Week #2

This week we have gone to the library for orientation, completed a power point on the 5 types of nouns, taken a 2 Benchmark Test in reading and language arts, AND read about a dead fish----whew!!!

Summer Reading should have been turned by this time, as well as, What Bugs You writing.

Next week we will focus on Narrative writing by analyzing the parts of a story, receive a spelling list of irregular plural nouns, and continue examining the parts of a sentence.

Test date for spelling is Friday, Sept.2

Welcome to 6th Grade Language Arts!

Language Arts will be a combination of grammar, reading, and writing this year. Please be sure to have your 3 ring binder, subject dividers, paper, and pencil/pens ready by Wednesday. Textbooks will not be issued, unless requested, and are available on-line.

This first week we will be reading a short story (about a fish!), look at sentence types, begin the Daily Grammar Practice, and write about "What Bugs Me". There may even be homework for a night or two--Whew!!!
