It's a New Year and a new nine weeks!

Sorry for the delay in updating the blog. These are busy and exciting times.
We will start the nine weeks with grammar review, benchmark tests, and a Poetry Unit. Your student will be exposed to great poets such as Robert Frost, Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou and other contemporary poets. The students will write their own poems incorporating the techniques and tools introduced in this unit. The unit will end with a "Poet's Cafe" complete with soft Jazz and poety readings. Please watch for a flyer coming home with student regarding more details about the "Cafe."
The next big item will be a Persuasive Essay. The essay will be coupled with research and technology to produce a persuasive argument with statistics, facts, expert opinion, charged language and logical arguments.
Through out the nine weeks we will be reviewing grammar, sentences, and paragraph formation. We will also be practicing for the upcoming CRCT's in the spring.
