P.E. starts the Fitnessgram!

So what is the Fitnessgram?

FITNESSGRAM was developed by The Cooper Institute in an effort to provide physical educators with a tool that would facilitate communicating fitness testing results to students and to parents. The assessment measures three components of health-related physical fitness that have been identified as important to overall health and function:

  • aerobic capacity;
  • body composition; and
  • muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility.

Intramural Program 2008-09

Intramurals start @ 8:15 A.M.

Daniell also offers a before school intramural program.  The philosophy of the Daniell Middle School Intramural Sports Program is to provide every student the opportunity to participate in competitive and non-competitive sports in a recreational environment.  In this environment, participation is stressed rather than winning.  Students experience success and enjoyment through participation.  The intramural program will meet the needs of all middle school students, not just the athletically gifted.  The program also gives students the opportunity to develop leadership and social skills.

Welcome To All 2008-2009 Daniell Students!

Welcome to a new school year here at Daniell!  Health and Physical Education is the shared responsibility of the student, home, school, and community.  The health and physical education program in Cobb County School District, provides each student with the information and skills needed to be active and healthy.  Through these programs, students are provided a foundation to be healthy and ready to participate in the total school program.

Walk Around the World

Mr. Nelson proclaimed February to be fitness month at J.J. Daniell in an effort to bring awareness about fitness to the community and school.  The faculty and students chose 14 cities in 14 countries and set a goal to "walk around the world."  The total distance traveled was 41,200 miles and was accomplished in only 17 days!  Walking is considered the most efficient form of physical fitness and can improve cardiovascular health, as well as weight maintenance.  Thanks for everyone's participation in making this wellness program a success!
