Today in class students worked on daily grammar practice, sentence parts, and took a poetry vocab pre-test in preparation for continued work on poetry vocabulary and categorizing poetry terms later this week.  Homework is to continue reading in self-selected reading books.

Today in class students continued analyzing stories for figurative language, tone, style, sensory details, etc.  We are working on a SQRL organizer and will be comparing three stories through a tri-venn diagram.  Homework is to continue reading in self-selected reading books.

Today in class students continued working on poetry vocabulary foldables and poetry vocabulary organizers.  Homework is to finish these if not complete.

Today in class students completed poetry books in the computer lab.  Homework is to continue reading in self-selected reading books.

Today in class students continued work on poetry terms and foldables.  Some students were finishing these two items for homework.  Students also began learning how to do daily grammar practice which we will be doing each week for the rest of the school year.

Today in class students took the parts of speech test.

Today in class students worked again on analyzing poems for figurative language and sound devices. We will continue with this on Monday and students will be completing a figurative language choice activity.

Today in class students took a formative assessment quiz on parts of speech as a warm-up and we discussed the quiz together.  Students also worked on adverbs by completing adverb practice and an ABC summary of adverb examples.  The parts of speech test in Friday for all classes. Students were provided with a half-sheet study guide to prepare for the test.

Today in class students worked on verb tenses by completing practice together.  Parts of Speech test on Friday. Students will continue working on verb postcards Wed/Thurs.  A study guide will be provided for the test.

Today in class students worked on comparing and contrasting two poems for theme and tone and completed a graphic organizer and a venn diagram.  Several students did not put names on the venn diagrams so we will have to rectify on Thursday.  Continue reading in self-selected reading books at home.
