8th Grade Parent Reminder

8th Grade Parents, as a reminder, the magnet school application deadline is this Friday, December 2.

Progress Report Reminder

Just a reminder that Daniell will send home progress reports for the second nine weeks this Friday. They were originally scheduled to go out today, but we moved it to this Friday to coincide with student advisement. By doing this, kids will be able to have their grades reviewed with their advisers which will hopefully be more meaningful to our students.

Don't forget, PINNACLE is a great way to always know what your child's grade is. You can even set this system to send you an email alert if your student's grade dips below what you are comfortable.

School Response to Tornado Warning of 11-16-11

This afternoon a tornado warning was issued for our school's area. Following our safety protocols for when warnings are issued, our staff immediately began moving our kids into safe locations throughout the building. We were fortunate that the weather did not develop into worse conditions. However, we were prepared as best we could if such a horrible event were to have occurred.

I want to thank our students who were so good and respectful during this tornado warning. I also want to thank our staff and parent volunteers who ensured all our kids were being taken care of during this time. Truly, the manner in which our students, staff, and volunteers handled today's situation spoke highly of how seriously our learning community takes safety.

 

Tornado Warning

Parents and Guardians:

We are currently under a tornado warning. This means your student is currently taking cover in a safe location at our school. The warning is over at 1:45 pm. Our students will remain in their safe locations until we are released from the tornado warning.

I will keep you posted as we move forward. I have personally walked the school and ensured our kids and staff are in the safest environment during this time.

Your children are with great professionals who will watch over them.

Wow! Thanksgiving is almost upon us! On behalf of the entire Daniell Middle School faculty and staff, we thank you for your outstanding support, encouragement, and assistance as we work each day to help prepare our students to be successful for high school. Just as a brief reminder, be sure to remember that school will be closed during the week of November 21-25 for Thanksgiving Break. If you are looking for something for your child to do over the break which can help them in the classroom, don't forget about USA TestPrep and Skills Tutor which can both be accessed from your home via our website free of charge. There are lots of fun games and tutorials which your child can use. Again, enjoy this break with your family!

Keeping You Up To Date

Dear Parents and Guardians:

 

The purpose of this posting is to keep you well informed of an incident that occurred at our school today. This afternoon we had a bomb threat that was written on a bathroom stall door. We immediately responded and investigated. No threat was found. I am proud of the student who reported the incident to an adult today. Such an act speaks highly of how our own students take ownership in their school.

 

This is a great opportunity to remind you that we encourage you to volunteer on our campus. The more adults we have on campus, the more layers of safety we have for our students.  We are a strong, competitive, and safe school. We will continue to strive for that recognition. Due to when this was reported, I was unable to draft a letter to distribute quickly enough to send home with students today. A letter will be sent home tomorrow.

It's hard to believe we are already getting ready for Thanksgiving Break. The school year is flying by! Please don't forget to try and volunteer at least one hour at our school at some point this year. We want you and need you. The more adults we have in our school allow us to not only provide more opportunities for our kids, but also provide a safer environment for all our students. There are numerous ways to volunteer based on what your talents are: making bulletin boards, helping in the media center, working honor roll celebrations, making copies, helping small groups, etc. To discover how you can help make your child's school a better place by volunteering, please call us at 678-594-8048 and ask to speak to the PTSA Volunteer Desk.
