At last count, there were over 70 parents who had signed up to volunteer in same form or fashion at our outstanding school. We want you and need your help! So, please visit the Welcome Desk in the front lobby of the school to visit with a PTSA Volunteer to see how you can donate an hour of volunteer time.

Did you know...

 Research shows that the more students are involved in their school the more likely they are to have higher grades and have better attendance. This is why Daniell faculty and staff volunteer to sponsor so many clubs and organizations at our school. Currently, there are 15 clubs and organizations for students to join. Our newest school club is 4-H. Mrs. Brownell is serving as the faculty sponsor.

Week of September 19, 2011

It is hard to believe that we are now in our 6th week of school! It is already time for progress reports to be coming home. Wednesday students will receive their progress reports and will be participating in the student advisement program. During the advisement program grades will be reviewed and students will set their academic goals for the school year. Throughout the year they will monitor their progress toward their goals, review attendance, and receive guidance to help them be able to better meet their goals. So, please check with your student Wednesday night to discuss with them the academic and/or attendance goals they set with their advisor. Like you, we want our students to be successful. Advisement is just one tool we use at Daniell to help our students take owenership of their own learning.

Did you know...

Daniell Middle School is an advanced placement certified school in Cobb County? Over half of the faculty at Daniell are certified gifted teachers and all teachers at Daniell integrate advanced content teaching strategies in their curriculum.

Week of September 12, 2011

This past Friday our school watched a live broadcast of Governor Nathan Deal who gave remarks and observed a moment of silence in remembrance of the victims of 9/11 and to honor those who serve our nation in uniform. The live broadcast was made possible by Georgia Public Broadcasting and streamed live from the state Capitol into Georgia classrooms across the state. In addition, our flag also flew at half-mast. We hope you and your family had an opportunity to discuss this important anniversary for our country with your child over the weekend.

Week of September 5, 2011

We hope you and your family were safe from the storms that came our way Monday. This will be a short week for us due to the Labor Day holiday. Here are the important happenings you should be aware for the week of September 5, 2011.

12:30 Lunch 'N Learn - This PTSA activity was changed to be held on September 6th as opposed to September 13th. During this Lunch 'N Learn I will be available for questions and answers from our parents.

8:00 East Cobber Parade - Mrs. Kerri Hirsch, Daniell's Teacher of the Year, and I will be in the parade. Come to the parade and cheer for Mrs. Hirsch as we celebrate her being Daniell's 2011-2012 Teacher of the Year.

Special Message to Parents/Guardians of 8th Grade Students

We are pleased to announce that Daniell will be offering high school French 1 in addition to high school Spanish 1 to our interested and qualifying 8th grade students. The French 1 class will begin Monday, September 12 and continue through the remainder of the school year. The French 1 course will be taught by a certified French teacher from Sprayberry High School. Classes will be held Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 8:50. Once the class is over at 8:50 am, students will be able to either go eat breakfast or go to their homeroom. Students completing the course with a passing grade will earn one high school credit of French. Information is available in the main office and is also currently available to interested 8th grade student in homeroom.
