Honors Night - Tuesday, May 24, 2011

In following one of the great traditions at Daniell, tonight we celebrate some outstanding student achievment at our Honors Night. Our program will be held in the auditorium and will start at 7:00 pm.  Parents are welcome to take pictures for scrapbooks. So, don't forget to bring your camera.The following is a list of the awards which will be presented.

Last Week of School

I can't believe the last of school is here. This year has flown by so fast. We have had an incredible year at Daniell. First, our students saw a 5 percentile increase on their ITBS scores which shows how our students compare with other students from across the nation. Second, our students increased another 1.5% to come in at 93.5% meet or exceed standards on the Middle Grades Writing test - making us one of the highest performing middle schools! Third, every category in our school improvement surveys rated by our parents, students, and teachers increased! In fact, our parent satisfaction rating has now climbed to 91.38%! This too is the highest in our schools history. And, now we await our CRCT scores. All incdicators look very promising for these results as well. Bottom line, we have truly had an amazing year.

I want to thank our parent advisory board, student advisory board, teacher advisroy board, and PTSA for providing such great input to us this year. This input combined with our increased parent volunteers and school clubs really served as a springboard to our acclerated achievement levels. In addition, our student body took ownership of their school in new ways this year. This ownership paid us large dividends and was apparent at the opening of our Olympic Ceremony held last week. So, students thank you for a remarkable year!

Parents, here are the important things you should be aware for the last three days of school.

Monday May 23^rd 

• Schedule 4,5,3,6,7,1,2
• Re-takes for CRCT Math for any 8th grader who did not meet standards

Tuesday May 24^th  (Students dismissed at 12:30)

• Schedule   2,3,7,5  
• 8^th Grade Assembly in theater 
• Honors Night in theater at 7:00 (Invitations sent home with award recipients)

Wednesday May 25^th   (Students dismissed at 12:30)

• Schedule    1,3,6,4
• 8^th grade picnic
• End of Nine Week Grading Period
• Yearbooks distributed 

Parents, please remember school is out at 12:30 on Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesday is the final day of the school year for students. Also, we wanted to let you know that on June 3^rd we will mail report cards to you. If you have moved, please ensure the main office has your new address so we can get these to you.
