Finish Unit One Anchor Books and Anchor Book Projects - All due by Wednesday

Wednesday - Start reading The Giver chapters one and two

Chapter one assignment - compare a tradition that you family has to a tradition from Jonas' family

Chapter two assignment - Make a one paragraph prediction about what kind of world Jonas lives in

Thursday/Friday - Read Chapters 3&4 in The Giver - see Mrs. Ehlers for questions that go with the chapters

Week 6 GA Studies

Tuesday

Cornell Notes over European Explores - See Mrs. Ehlers for a copy of the power point if you miss class

Exploration Data Table - completed using notes and textbook

European Claims to the New World Circa 1650 map

Wednesday

Hernando de Sota Video (short 5 minute clip) 5 questions to answer as opener on Wednesday

Reading, "Hernando de Soto Explores the Southeast" - complete map that accompanies the reading

Friday

Complete entire unit study guide using textbook.  There will be a unit test on Tuesday!!!

Week 6 - Social Studies Literacy

Complete pages 66 and 67 in the Reader's Journey. 

Read The Day it Rained Cockroaches on pages 68-72 in RJ - answer questions that follow on page 73 and turn in to Mrs. Ehlers for a class work grade

Pick one of the vocab words on page 68 and create a vocabulary square with the word of your choice, also turn in to Mrs. Ehlers for a class work grade.

Last half of the week - Read anchor books in literature circles and try out new role cards

End of Week 4 and Week 5 - GA Studies

Week 4

Friday- Begin P.A.W.M group projects.  Students are required to work as a group to examine the cultures of Native Americans.  Absent students will have to pull their weight in the assignment on Tuesday.

Week 5

Tuesday - Quiz over Unit 2 Vocabulary!!! Half of the period for finishing up group work. For the remainder of the period each group will present and teach the other groups about their group of Native Americans.  Students will complete a graphic organizer for P.A.W.M.

Friday - Work on Prehistoric Guided Essay individually in class.  This will count as a quiz grade.

End of Week 4 & Week 5 - Social Studies Literacy

Week 4

Thursday- Resume Literature Circles with role cards - absent students need to come in during homeroom to makeup missed reading and role assignment

Week 5

Wednesday - Complete page 58 and 59 in your Reader's Journey prior to reading in Literature Circles.  Resume reading in Literature Circles.  As a group create a timeline of your novel so far.  You must include at least 15 events that have occured in your novel.

Thursday - Complete pages 62-67 in Reader's Journey individually.  Go over answers as a class. Read novels individually.  We will go back to Literature Circles next week and discuss what was read individually.
