8th Grade Biography Project

Research sites Biography research

We are working on creating a biography PowerPoint presentation.  We will be creating a PowerPoint for presentation to the class.  I put some research sites as links, if you want to help your student find more information. Download Biographical power point instructions. These are the requirements for the PowerPoint. We have recently gone over the proper form for citation of sources, which is a requirment of the project.

8th Grade ESOL

1. After the Holidays we will continue working on types of nonfiction.
2. Students will receive their 6th reading log, that will be due the 1st week of February.
3. They will have their mid-unit test on the 20th of January.

Please encourage you students to record their reading.

1. We will continue to work on understanding nonfiction and informational texts. 
2. When we get back from the Holiday break we will be starting Unit 3 in our Reader's Journey and taking the mid-unit test at the end of the month.

I put some research sites as links if you want to help your student find more information. Download Biographical power point instructions. These are the requirements for the PowerPoint. I have collaborated with Mrs. Harris, our media specialist, she will be giving the instructions to the students for the PPT development.

7th Grade ESOL, The Week of Conferences

8th Grade Reading

We will be finishing the story Nothing But the Truth and then creating a newspaper with articles about the book.  Ask your student about the book. A reading log is due very soon, make sure your student is recording his or her reading everyday.

7th Grade ESOL

We will be returning to Touching Spirit Bear.  We will continue reading and working with this book.  We will make our own Totem as a final project. Please ask your student to tell you about the Circle of Justice that is in the book.  Another Reading log will be due soon.  Remind your students to record their reading on their reading log.

7th Grade ESOL Reading

We will be working elemnts of narritive texts and characterization.

• The students will be reading Touching Spirit Bear and analyzing the plot and characters. Refer to page 18-19 of the Journey's text book.

8th Grade ESOL Reading

• The students will be reading Nothing But the Truth and analyzing the plot and characters. Refer to page 36 of the Journey's text book.
