Week of 10-31

 

 

Check out online textbook- https://www.successnetplus.com/.  Students were given instructions and passwords to access.  They all should check it out and make sure their username and password work.

Monday- Students completed a Springboard activity to introduce WWII.  Then they read in textbooks and completed a WWII graphic organizer chart.  HW:  Review WWII.  Quiz Friday over WWI/WWII.

Tuesday- Students completed a timeline activity to review WWII.  Students watched a powerpoint on the components of a political cartoon.  Next in groups they analyzed some political cartoons from WWII.  Then they completed a worksheet to make sure they understood political cartoons.  HW:  Students will create their own political cartoon on WWII- due Friday.

Wednesday/Thursday- Students will be working in groups to analyze pictures from WWII.  They will complete a hand -out- Every Picture Tells a Story.  Groups will share about their picture.  Lastly we will look at a video on the Holocaust- One Survivor Remembers.  HW:  WWII Political cartoon due Friday.  Quiz Friday over WWI/WWII.

Friday- Students turn in their political cartoons on WWII.  Students took Sequencing Events Quiz over WWI/WWII.  Students had looked at Holocaust Video day before and today will look at artifacts that go along with video.  Groups will examine and discuss artifacts.  HW:  www.usatestprep.com.

Week of 10-24

--Conference Week this week- students get dismissed at 2:15 all week--

Reminder Mrs. Hirsch's 1st period class should be working on their classroom visitors project- due Oct 28th!!

Monday- Students read more about WWI and completed a primary document WS.  HW:  Review WWI information.

Tuesday- Students watched a video on WWI and etch a sketched notes on the video.  HW:  www.usatestprep.com

Wednesday- We did a notebook check today and worked on a Russian Revolution WS.  HW: www.usatestprep.com

Thursday- We started reading a novel- Letters From Rifka.  HW: Tell your parents about the novel.

Friday- Hirsch's 1st period- projects are due and students presented their information.  Students worked in the Coach books to review WWI.  HW: www.usatestprep.com

Week of 10-17

Monday- Students took a pop quiz on explorers.  Then they read in textbook pages 329-332, defined 3 vocabulary words and answered 2 questions about their reading.  HW:  www.usatestprep.com

Tuesday- Students did a word map on Imperialism.  Then they started on European Colonization Simile Worksheet.  HW- write simile and draw/color picture to go with simile.

Wed/Thurs- Students read article on Colonization of Australia and answered questions and discussed.  Then we did a word map on Nationalism.  Students also worked in the Coach Books to review exploration and colonization. HW: www.usatestprep.com

Friday- We started WWI today.  Students read in textbook, defined 2 vocabulary words and filled out graphic organizer on the war.  HW: Get NB organized- NB Check coming soon.

Week of 10-10

Due to 7th grade testing this week- the schedule is blocked all week.  Return conference letters ASAP.

Monday- Students took their Unit Test today.  Then they read in Time For Kids magazines and discussed current events.  HW: Students should be going on www.usatestprep.com at least once a week.

Tuesday/Wednesday- Students got back their test/test help and we went over it.  Students read in textbooks and completed a chart as they read and defined two vocabulary words.  HW: Complete Tracing Empires WS and get test help signed.

Thursday/Friday- Checked and went over Tracing Empires WS.  Explained Wanted Posters assignment.  Due the end of class.  Students that need more time will have the option to take home and finish and return next class period.
