Week of 10/3

Monday- Students received a study guide to help get ready for Unit Test on Friday.  HW: Start studying.  Unit Test over Europe Geography Standards will be this Friday for pds 1,3,5 and on Monday for pds 2 and 4 and munch n learn both Friday and Monday morning at 8:30am.

Tuesday- Students worked in CRCT books to review Europe Geography standards.   HW: Start studying.  Unit Test over Europe Geography Standards will be this Friday for pds 1,3,5 and on Monday for pds 2 and 4 and munch n learn both Friday and Monday morning at 8:30am.

Wednesday/Thursday- Students played a review game to get ready for test.  Students also worked on some map skills.   HW: Start studying.  Unit Test over Europe Geography Standards will be this Friday for pds 1,3,5 and on Monday for pds 2 and 4 and munch n learn both Friday and Monday morning at 8:30am.

Friday- Students in pds 1, 3 and 5 took their Unit Test today.  Then they read in Time For Kids magazines and discussed current events.  HW: Students should be going on www.usatestprep.com at least once a week.

Week of 9/26

Upcoming Tests: Tuesday is the Map Test of Western Europe- with a Munch N Learn at 8:30am Tuesday morning.  Unit Test over Geography of Europe Standards will be Friday October 7th with a Munch N Learn Friday October 7th at 8:30am.

Monday- We reviewed map for our Test tomorrow.  Started on environmental issues in Europe- air pollution in the UK and acid rain in Germany.  HW: finish worksheets.  Study Map- test tomorrow and munch n learn Tuesday morning at 8:30am.

Tuesday- Students took their map test. Continuing with environmental issues- Chernobyl in Ukraine.  HW: Finish worksheet.

Wednesday/Thursday- Students got back their map test.  Then they worked in the CRCT Coach books.  Discussed languages in Europe and answered questions in our notebook on pages 35-36.  HW: get Map Test signed.

Friday- We looked at religions in Europe.  We completed an anticipation guide, looked at a venn diagram and rewrote false statements. Unit Test over Geography of Europe Standards will be next Friday October 7th.  Munch N Learn next Friday October 7th at 8:30am.

Reminder- should be going on www.usatestprep.com whenever you can.  Check out the videos, games and/or take practice tests.

Week of 9-19

Monday- Checked Notebooks Today.  We color coded map of Western Europe.  Finish Map for homework.  Map Test will be next Tuesday Sept 27th and Munch n Learn at 8:30am on the 27th.

Tuesday- Checked and reviewed map.  Labeled and colored a physical map of Europe.  Map Test will be next Tuesday Sept 27th.  HW: Study Map.

Wednesday/Thursday- Finished Physical Map and reviewed political map.  Read Ch 2 section 1 in textbook and completed a cloze reading activity.   HW: Study Map.

Friday- Review activities to get ready for Map Test Tuesday.  Students worked in groups to complete an atlas worksheet- A Closer Look.  HW: Study Map.  W. Europe Map Test will be Tuesday.  Munch N Learn Tuesday at 8:30am.

Week of 9-12

Monday-  Continuing to work on our government terms flip book.  Students should be reviewing terms.  HW: Bring in project materials Wed/Thur- small box, 2 artifacts per strand, decorations and glue.

Tuesday- Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs. Hawk talked to SS classes.  Students played memory game to review government vocabulary terms.  HW: Bring in project materials Wed/Thur- small box, 2 artifacts per strand, decorations and glue.

Wednesday/Thursday-  Students worked on Time Capsule Projects.  Anyone not finished had the option of taking it home to finish and turn in on Friday.  HW- Go on usatestprep.com if you can.

Friday- Students took open note government quiz.  Discussed Constitution Day.  Students looked at another students time capsule project and had to do writing assignment called- You are the Archeologist.  HW- Go on usatestprep.com if you can.

Week of 9-6

Monday- Labor Day- no school:)

Tuesday- Students looked a Powerpoint on the 5 Strands of SS and took some notes.  HW- Study for Terms Test.  Test is Wed for periods 1,3 and 5 and on Thurs for periods 2 and 4.  Munch n Learn will be held both Wed and Thurs morning at 8:30am.

Wednesday/Thursday- Students took their terms test.  Then they played a manipulative game with their group to review the 5 strands of Social Studies.  They were also given a handout reviewing all this information for their notebook.  A project called Time Capsule All About Me was assigned and explained.  Students were shown an example.  Students will work on the project in class next Wed/Thurs and then project will be due Friday Sept 16th.  The project will be done in class and then students that need a little more time will be given the option of taking home to finish.  Students will need to bring to class a small box, 2 artifacts per strand and glue next Wed/Thurs.

Friday- Students were given back Terms Test.  Students were given a pop quiz over 5 Strands of Social Studies.  We started on our Government Flip Books- we will finish in class next week.  HW- get Test Help signed and go on www.usatestprep.com if you have spare time this weekend.
