Antebellum and The Civil War in Georgia

Today we began studying the Antebellum and Civil War period in Georgia, focusing on standard SS8H6: The student will analyze the impact of the Civil War on Georgia.

First, you created a new concept map and then worked on these vocabulary terms:

free state, slave state, antebellum, Compromise of 1850, Missouri Compromise, Dred Scott decision, nullification, Kansas-Nebraska Act, state's rights. There will be a quiz on these terms this Thursday/ Friday.

Next, you completed an activity comparing the north and south and then compared and contrasted the two regions.

Finally, you completed an anticipation guide for the unit which we will work on as we go.

HOMEWORK FOR THE WEEK:   READ SECTION 2 OF CHAPTER 7 AND, IN COMPLETE SENTENCES, ANSWER THE "ITS YOUR TURN" QUESTIONS 1-6 ON PG. 227 AND READ SECTION 4 OF CHAPTER 7 AND COMPLETE THE "ITS YOUR TURN" QUESTIONS 1 AND 2 ON PG. 244. THESE ARE DUE THURSDAY/FRIDAY.

3RD PERIOD: THE PIGMAN STUDY GUIDE FOR CHAPTERS 3-5 DUE ON TUESDAY- QUIZ ON FRIDAY.
