Here are a few resources and sites that you should check out.
1. Megan showed Nneka and me a very cool presention site called Prezi at http://prezi.com/login/?next=/your/ . If you click on the explore tab you can see the types of presentations you can generate. There are three presentation levels; the basic Prezi tools are free, but teachers can upgrade to the second level for free. Go to the Your Prezi and select sign up now for information.
2. More technology. Hoke Wilcox of KSU share his website with the MSP teachers. It is a great resource for how to use technology. http://edtech411.com/
3. Here is an eletronic copy of the Download Twitter Summary .
4. Student Notebooks. In my classes I require that students have a 3-ring binder or use a sectiton of their binders for Science. This year I'm requiring 4 dividers; Notebook, Enrichment, CRCT Prep, Appendix. I use the same format that I learned from Mrs. Pangburn my TOSS collaborative teacher 12 years ago. Here is an Download Table of contents, Download Notebooks rubric wide and a 4 entry Warm-Up/Download Response page. I collect the notebook after the unit test is returned and any test corrections are made. I grade the first and maybe the 3rd notebooks and students assess themselves and each other using the rubric. I keep old notebooks in a folder in the classroom and do at least 2 portfolio assessments during the year, one being a CRCT review.
4. Some of you plan to use Interactive Notebooks. You can find two great power points - one you can use to teach the notebook procedures to your students. From Blackboard go to Top Teaching Strategies. Don't forget that Science teachers will have entire units available on Blackboard by August 10th! See your school's Science Coordinator to find out how to get your log-in if you still are unable to log-in to blackboard.
You have been a terrific group of professionals; how lucky your students are!
